Was the pickup bed wood different in 1946. I have a list that shows they used 7 boards in the pickup bed instaer of 6 like 41-45. Does anyone know this to be true?

Where did you find this info? I can not find it mentioned in any of my material. Although the parts book does not list the wood no other box parts are different from 1939-1946.

The number of wood bed strips used on both short & long bed Chevy 1/2T PU's were 6-boards from 1940-1945 and 7-boards in 1946. My "DP" also had 7-boards when I got it (unrestored). That information is from the Jim Carter Classic Truck catalog. www.oldchevytrucks.com

Thanks for the post. That sounds like a solid bit of information. I will put it back with the 7 boards in the bed. have you finished yours? Got any pictures?

I didn't find anything about the bed boards on the site. Did I miss it?

If you have the correct cross rails (sills) the number of pre punched holes for the metal floor strips will determine the number of boards originally used in your bed. These holes also match the pre punched holes in your front bed panel and rear cross member.

Thanks for the post. The bed was completly gone when I got this one. I got a second "parts" truck that I think was a 41' and am trying to get my truck restore as the 46' should be. Hard to find a detail pictures except for hot rods.
