I have a '36 engine that I am adapting to my '33 Master. The '36 came with a Rochester carburetor. It seems to me that the carburetor should be a W-1 Carter. Is that correct? If so, I will use the Carb from the '33. The throttle linkage is a little different between the two. different length rods, different crank, different stud diameter etc. Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated. Thanks, Gene.

You're correct, the Carter W-1 is the correct carb for the `36. If you go to the Carburetor Shop on line at http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/CarterChevroletW1.htm

you'll find a lot of info. By the way, I have two 36 Chevs and my Coupe had a Rochester carb on it when I bought it. I have a spare W-1 and the engine runs fine with either as long as you have the low and high speed adjustments correct.

You would be better off if you use the W-1 carburetor that is designed for the 1936 engine, not the W-1 carburetor for the 1933 engine.
