Looking for some help to identify the vintage of our 235 engine block. First time doing this, so am not sure what number I should be looking for (as there are several numbers in several locations on the block). Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

First look for the casting number. These will be raised numbers, witn seven numbers beginning with a 3. Depending on the year of the engine could be next to the distributor (low) or behind the starter. Next would be the engine ID number. It is stamped into the verticle ledged just to the rear of the distributor.

Thank you for the quick reply. Will check these locations. I remember there being a horizontal flat surface area just to the rear of the distributor base that had some numbers on.
Regards.
