Got a question, My last post was about pinion angle,my drive shaft rubbing against the crossmember closest to my tranny. Noticed something else, I only have 3 leafs in my springs front and rear. So the question is <How many leafs both front and rear should a 57 chevy 3100 series pick up have? Thanks, Im thinking somebody tried to lower it on a budget? Bill Pearson

The original springs had 6 leaves in the front and 7 in the rear.

Thanks, So im guessing th easiest and cheepest way to lower it was to just remove three leafs,( prevoius owner). Makes it a little unstable. New toys are such a learning experiance.

Anybody know the height of a stock 1957 3100 series pick up is? The previous owner of my truck lowered it by removing 3 of the front leaf springs and 3 from the rear. M akes life a little tough in a s turn. They call it BUMP STEAR. Feels like the truck is fighting itself. Looks cool sitting there, just dont take a turn. So im looking for a set of stock springs for a 57 3100 series pick up, think that is the fix.

According to my parts manual, the '57 3100 (1/T) pick-up "Heavy Duty" has 8 leaves and the "Extra Heavy Duty" has 7 leaves (2 stage spring).
