There is some overlap here with my post about the cab floor forward corner holes. Most of the mechanical stuff on my '49 Chevy 4400 is done now. The cab should be water tight as I am putting in the new interior now.

On the passenger's side, I can see daylight between the floorboard and the cab wall. I emphasize that this is not a rust hole... it is as though a gasket or filler strip (like between the fendors and cab) is missing (probably weathered away). The 'space' curves around following the contour of the cab and floor joint. Water comes in through there when the road is wet. The forward hole on the left side may be a rust hole... but it doesn't look like it. The edges are straight, but someone may have modified it in the past.

I am thinking to seal that with inner tube rubber and 3M weatherstrip glue. I'll paint it with anti-rust stuff first.

Any tips to deal with this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Lee Prairie

3M offers several varieties of seam sealers that will fill gaps and voids and are paintable. these come in calking gun tubes.
