Dave You are right about engine colour but that wont stop it working correctly. I also noticed they changed the Holden badge between your 35 and my 38, mine only had "Holden body 127" in enamelled brass riveted to cab just behind left mudguard. Tony

Looks like quite a project. I am just finishing up the restoration on a 1935 Holden bodied Phaeton, but with Left hand drive.Appears to always have been that way. After lengthy discussions with several members here and comparing to a 34 US built roadster that we have here I have come to the conclusion that there are many subtle differences in the Holden VS. the US built body. For example, the doors are different(wood parts and steel parts), the rear body lines are different and that effects the rear apron,so they are also different. Hoods are different, there is no provision for a front hood corner pad on the Holden. ![[Linked Image from i118.photobucket.com]](http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o83/69tdega/137-3794_IMG.jpg) I may be able to help you with the parts search and pictures etc. Andy.

I am gaining. Project has been going on about a year. Not full time of course.I didn't take the body off the frame but did have to cut the body in two and stretch it about 1/4 of an inch to get door gaps back. You gotta luv wooden cars.I have had alot of help from some of the members here. This car isn't going back exactly as it was when new, but being a Holden car its tough to know just exactly how it was.Use a little imagination here and there and compare to other cars and pictures when available. Polishing the paint now, then finish the body assembly, bumpers, lights etc. Then get it running again and go for that long awaited drive around the block before the gas gets drained and the battery removed and it gets parked in the boss's collection. I thought about seeing if he would let me get it out and take it to the 100 year party if I can attend. Only a little over 200 of these reported to be built and it was the last year for the phaeton in the US.

GM-Holden's was in the practice of sending sample cars to the US, to show off the body styles and work being carried out down under. An example of this was the sloper for 1935 shipped to the General Motors Export Co. NEW YORK. Where it went to the GM design studios for evalauation .
Perhaps the Tourer (pheaton) was also one shipped to the US for the same reason.

I assumed that since it was the last year for the phaeton in the US that maybe Holden sent some bodies or cars to the US to finish filling the orders that had been placed. Just a long shot. I think its an unusual car no matter what the history.

Just happened upon this thread. The Holden badge is identical to the one on my 36 roadster.

They must have changed it for the 38 commercials as mine was different, though sadly I have lost it when cleaning up after the rust cutting session. It was a small enamel oval that stated Holden Body 127 and was riveted to the lower left corner of the cab just behind the front mudguard. Tony
