I just came across this pic of the 42 I bought from the original owner in the early 70s. It's the only pic I have, I took it upon arriving home. It was a true barn find. I found it while helping a friend haul hay. It took quite a while to talk the owner into selling it and I had to promise I wouldn't "hot rod" it. It took several days to rid it of all of the dirt dauber and red wasp nests, get the motor running and wheels turning. It was 15 miles away but I was determined to drive it home. There was no seat so I sat on a bundle of old newspapers, no floor board or exhaust system. Had to stop several times to air up tires and refill the master cylinder. The entire trip was dirt roads. The owner swore the 75,000 on the odometer was correct, the truck was fairly complete except for the items mentioned before. He had the original title. I found a seat, floor board and fixed the brakes, replaced the tires and drove the truck around town for several years. I got a neighbor to hose it down with black paint. I eventually sold it back to the son of the original owner after his father had passed. I learned several years later the truck was destroyed in a fire.

I believe the casting date on the block was June 42. The only chrome on the truck was the door handles, windshield divider and wiper arm.
