I am planning on picking up one of the Master Parts Books for reference for my 1932 Chevy Special Sedan. I see that three different versions are offered, 1929-1932, 1929-1942, and a 1929-1950. Does anyone have a recommendation on which one would provide the best reference for a 1932?
Thanks, Thomas

First choice would be the 1929-32 book. Would suggest also getting the 1929-42 book as numbers that have been combined and up-dated will be in that book. A number of slow moving parts such as interior trim will not be in the 1942 book. It does have a better format though for finding things.

The best parts book to obtain for your 1932 Special Sedan would be the August, 1932 edition of the 1929-32 parts book. The February, 1932 edition of the 1929-32 parts book is currently being reprinted but there are many 1932 body parts and etc. that are not listed in the earlier document, so the August edition would be the better of the two parts books. Unfortunately, an original August, 1932 edition is a much scarer parts book to obtain. Another excellent parts book to purchase would be the April, 1934 edition of the chassis parts book and the June, 1934 edition of the body parts book. Both manuals have detailed illustrations of both the chassis and the body parts and the illustrations are invaluable. Again, original copies of both of these books are hard to come by and they are very expensive when found. However, years ago the 1934 chassis parts book was being reprinted and a few copies of this book can probably still be found. The early 1940's parts books don't contain all of the 1932 body and chassis parts since many of the available parts were discontinued prior to the publishing of the later parts books.

Thanks for the help and advice. I will go ahead and place one of the '29-'32 books on order, and keep my eye out for one of the '34 editions. Thanks!

You can also get a CD version of the 35 parts book from the Filling Station. It is just as good as the 34 parts book which Skipper is talking about. I have them book and they work great for 32 parts.

Does anyone know if an August 1, 1932 Master Parts Price List, titled "For Four Cylinder Models", also include the 1932 6 cylinder passenger model, or is there a different August 1932 manual out there for the 6 cylinder models? Thanks, Thomas

"For Four Cylinder Models" means just that...the parts book is for the 1928 and earlier four cylinder models only. The August 1932 edition of the Master Parts Price List For Six Cylinder Models is for all 1929-32 six cylinder models only. You can get one from the Filling Station. They just came out with a reprint of that edition last week and I got my copy today.

Another good book to get is the 1933 UNITED MOTORS SERVICE PARTS BOOK. The Filling Station has a copy as well. I have an original 1932 copy and it is great. It shows pictures of a lot of the parts.
