I have never had anything soda blasted but understood from others that if you don't rinse the metal with water afterword you can have some paint problems.

I dare to say you in the LA area have nothing on us for rapid rusting of sand blasted parts. Our RH is between 60-100% most days. We quickly coat with a self-etching primer or conversion product. Then in a short time cover that with a good (urethane or epoxy) primer/sealer. Seems to work well for us.

Soda blasted sheet metal will rust just as quick as sandblasting if it isn't protected, just like Chipper said.
Don't even ask me why I know. It will rust even from just a heavy dew or for no reason. It don't have to rain to cause rust. Do you need some pictures?
