First, I wish to thank everyone who has contributed their experience and knowledge to this Chat site I have been reading and I have learned a great deal. I have had a 32 head reconditioned and it is ready to install. I had the Filling Station recondition the rocker assembly and it looks like new. The head I removed was a ’31 and the inserts in the intake port seem like they were pressed in the head. They are thick (1/8th in.), they are
3 ½ in. in length and the same dimension for the entire length. As if a pipe was cut and pushed into the head. My ’32 head came with 3 inserts that are made of a heavy sheet metal rolled to match the intake port in the head but part way down the length it is cut on a diagonal to form a point. The pointed end looks like a shovel. Since these fit properly I plan to use them but I wanted to get some views on the subject. I can not find any pictures of the inserts, 31 or 32. I know that previous posts have established the need for them but finding two types has confused me.
Also, has anyone used or have an opinion on ”˜Luscas Heavy Duty engine oil stabilizer’ offered by The Filling Station. It is alleged to eliminate dry starts etc. Thanks! Greg

Okay, I am going from memory here so I hope that I can remember it correctly:

The 1929 passenger car manifold sleeve is round and the same diameter all the way to the end of the sleeve.

The 1929 truck manifold sleeve is the same as the 1929 passenger car except that it is rolled over towards the inner diameter on the end.

The 1930-31 sleeves are round at the front and then they taper to an oval at the back.

The 1932 sleeve is like you described, a shovel configuration at the back of the sleeve.

Thanks JYD ! The most important info is the fact that the inserts that came with the head are correct for the 32. I took your advice on having the rocker assy done by the FS and I am glad I did......Thanks. Hope to have it running by the weekend!
