On eBay there are some '30 Chevy coach parts for sale. The guy is selling unwanted parts from a "nice rust free" car his car club bought. They are using the body to teach their junior members how to build a dragster. I think this is very, very sad, to say the least. I would think teaching young people how to restore a nice original old car. Would be more productive and character building then to degrade a car into a gas guzzling piece of s.......I guess I better not go there. This is still a free county, for now. And everybody has there preferences, but it just sadens my heart every time I hear about another old car destroyed.

The benefit, some young folks are going to exposed to the car hobby, they are going to learn to do some of their own work, they will be exposed to an old body style and will in fact preserve at least the visible aspect of the design and the era from which it originated. I hate to see a prime old car changed also but at least some of the history of the car and the era in which it was built will be saved. I personally love my 52 as is but if I had my way I would have a second one just like it but with all the modern stuff. I have a thing for all cars not just original restorations.

The Lakeland Region in northern Jersey was featured in a G&D story lately. They brought their cars to a local Boy Scouts of America meeting and showed the kids their cars. Complete with explanations by Dave Cavagnaro and others the boys got a real good lesson about the old cars as well as our hobbie and Club.
To me, I also respect all types of people that are into their collector cars, but I have a real love and much more respect for someone that takes the time to restore a car back to it's original condition. To me, thats much harder to accomplish.
