Take a close look at your armature and you will find the number stamped on it.

Three different generator armatures were used between 1940 and 1952. They are: 1921235, 1912599, and 1921351. The shortest armature of the three is 1921351 which is 9 13/32" long.

Your local generator/starter shop should know which armature your generator requires.

Can you actually get a new armature for these generators???
I would have thought that the only fix was to have your old one rewound if it was open or shorted and if the commutator were to badly worn simply find another used armature.
Richard here's an example of one out of my '50, 3600 216 truck: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2783026510098611668IedyjQ

He JYD, just so I can add it to my reference files, where did ya come up with those numbers?? My '29 to '50 parts book only lists two numbers 1871826 and a 1879002.

Sure, rewound armatures for those generators are no problem. Wouldn't even be surprised if your local generator/starter shop had one in stock.
