gonna have many questions about this truck in the future. just bought a 57 3100 series pick up in califonia. it is a resto-mod. i know this is breaking ranks here, but that is what i was ready for. 350 3 speed with dick brakes etc. i will later be posting questions about enging numbers-etc. from the pictures i see on the rear end next to the 10 bolt cover the numbers 12345 or 12346 can anybody give me info as to what this rear end is off of? next any info on what appears to be the origional 3 speed. there appears to be 2 electrical components on the trans. guessing one is the reverse light sensor, one wire to that. another component with 2 wires going to it im guessing to be overdrive? any info would be helpful.

most likely one of the switches on the trans is a transmission controled spark (TCS). this switch when used in conjuction with a solenoid allowed vacuum advance to the distribtor only in high gear. a polution control device very common on vehicles of the early 70s.
