Hi I know someone that has a 64 impala convertible that he never got around to restoring he wants 2000.00 for it and 500.00 for the sheet metal he has for it { floor pans, ect } Im just wondering what I should look for in the car like model, engine, ect- I will be looking at it this spring and weather it is worth fixing up stock or updating to a more modern ride. I looked at it about two years ago but he did not want to sell it then so I do not know any more on the car. { he has Parkinson's now so he is selling the car} any input would be helpful driving

Not exactly sure what you are asking, but for the car itself, it will either be an Impala or Impala SS. It will have either a 6-cylinder (230), a small block V-8 (283 or 327) or a big block (409). It could be a 3-Speed manual, 4-Speed manual or automatic (Powerglide) (altho at least one of the combo's weren't available).

If the car is reasonably restore-able, $2500 is a pretty good price.

Welcome Chuck!

Since the car is a convertible you are better off keeping it stock as an investment.

If you are looking for better advice, I suggest you post your questions on the pages that cover the year.
