Hello All,
I am replacing the needles in my 47 Chevy's speedometer and clock. I removed the three lights in the speedometer and one light in the clock when I took out the instruments. Before I replaced both the speedometer and clock back in the dash I thought that I would make sure the lights were working. When I turned the light switch on none of the lights turned on (with the exception of the lights in the four minor gages to the left of the speedometer. I looked under the dash and it looks like the speedometer lights and clock light is connected to the light switch. Do the lights need to be grounded in the speedometer and clock before they will turn on?
Thanks for your help.

All of the dash lights are connected to the light switch at the rheostat terminal. To operate the dash lights the headlight switch must be pulled out and the knob rotated to control the brightness.
