I am working on a 194 Engine from a 1931 Chevy. It was partially disassembled when I got it and the oil thrower that goes on the crank shaft, timing gear, Part #836358 has me stumped as to how it should go. I have been unable to locate a legible schematic showing the proper location of this in relation to the crank gear, timing cover, etc.
Would appreciate a schematic or good explanation as to location. Perhaps there is a part missing?? When installed next to the crank gear the keyway on the shaft for the harmonic balancer is too far forward to engage the slot for the oil thrower.
Any help would be appreciated.

The thrower or slinger fits on the crank with the center next to the gear and dished out so the outside edge extends to sorta cover the gap between timing cover and crankshaft.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!

Thank you for the quick response. If I understand correctly, the "cup" of the slinger should be toward the harmonic balancer. The gap between the crank gear and harmonic balancer key is approx. 5/8" and the notch on the slinger does not engage the key on the crank or the harmonic key. What am I missing ? The crank gear seems to be against the shoulder on the crank. Guess I'm dense.
