Does anybody know where to find the light gray, looks almost beige, engine color for a '48 216 engine? I've checked Chevs of the 40s and Hirsch Auto and they both have a charcoal gray (dark) and it's not what I'm looking for. I've seen pictures of 48 engines with a real light gray color but I can't find it. The color(s) I have on it now are the light blue in two different shades.

The "Filling Station" has the CORRECT blue/grey color for a 48 216.

Your engine was painted with the blue/gray paint. It is available from the Filling Station. The paint that Bill Hirsch sells is WRONG.

Hi There and welcome to our group. Glad that you could join us!

As the guys mentioned above, the correct color for your engine is dark blue-gray and it is almost a charcoal color. The light gray that you have seen in photos is the incorrect color. Bill Hirsch has been selling the incorrect light gray engine enamel for decades and way back before the correct engine paint was available from the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon, dudes were painting their engines with the light gray paint from Bill Hirsch because that was the only paint available at the time.

Go here to order the correct dark blue-gray engine paint:

Actually Bill Hirsch has both his medium gray (aka called Universal Gray) and the correct dark blue gray available. A customer needs to tell them which one they want.
