Does anyone know if there are any distinguishing marks, numbers etc.on an early Corvette jack? I have one that was taken from a 59 vette but it has no identification on it, looks like a regular old scissor jack to me.

the 1953-61 vette jacks had a cast iron base onto which was debossed "SJ4653" and its jack center shaft had fine threads. the 1962 vette jack was identical to its 53-61 sibling except its cneter shaft threads were coarse threaded. Both critters were not to be trusted. repos are available(about 200 bucks). originals bring a little more.Corvaire jacks are grossly similar in appearance but not close enough to fool the judges. mike

Thanks Mike,This must be an after market jack. It has course threads and the base is steel like the rest of the jack.

Thanks again,
