What are the differences in the two generators besides what year cars they came on? What parts are/are not interchangeable between the two? TIA, Bob wink

Not counting the generator pulley, the only difference between the two generators is the position of the cut-out on top of the generator and the Delco-Remy tag with the model number. Other than that all of the parts are interchangeable since both generators are the same.

Hey JYD another generator question:

Will a 937-G generator parts interchange with a 943-J? The reason I'm asking all these generator questions. Is that I have new field coils, bearings, brushes & a NOS armature for
a 943-J. There is a 937-G on "Greed"-Bay for a decent price
(for now!)that I might bid on. If I got it I'd rebuild it for a spare for my '29 coach. What say ye', oh' great dog of the Pacific North West? talk

You could probably make a 943-J from a 937-G, since many of the parts are the same. I think that the third brushes are different between the two as I remember. However, I would still go with the 943-B and the 943-J instead. The 943-B is an easy conversion to a 943-J by changing the location of the threaded holes for the cut-out and changing the Delco tag.

Thanks JYD, I'll wait until I find another 943-J or a 943-B.

Yep, you are better off looking for another 943-J generator since they are not that hard to find. The rare part is finding the correct pulley for the year application.
