I'M NEW TO THE VINTAGE CAR SO DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT. THE CAR SEEMS TO BE ALL STOCK AND HAS THE 6 VOLT SYSTEM.THE TAIL LIGHT DOESN'T WORK WHEN THEN THE LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON EITHER. My suggestion would be to start simple. wink Do you have good contact with ground? Next try a meter to see if you have continuity. May be a break in the wire. Yes there is a brake light switch located under the drivers side near the brake lever cross bar. Good contact with bulb and ground was the problem I had with my brake light on my 1930. Have you joined the VCCA? yipp

Perhaps it (tail-light) may not be sufficiently grounded. Loosen and then retighten the mounting bolts.

You may have to trace the wire from the tail-light all the way back to the switch on the dash. It could be broken or disconnected.

A switch (other than the dash switch) is not located in the tail-light line. Additional switches would only be in the STOP-light wire.

Remember that you need a two filament six volt bulb for the tail light.

Don't get a double filament. Take a look at this thread and then make your decisions. TAIL LIGHTS

Dual filament bulbs are not used on the 1930 tail light because there are two bulbs! One bulb is for the brake light and the other bulb is for the tail light, and both bulbs have a single filament. laugh laugh laugh

STACEY67

I recently help someone solve this on the judging field. Check the socket for the upper bulb. It may not be making good contact. The ears of the socket sometimes open up with wear to allow the bulb excess movement. After the ears were tightened up a bit the lights worked great.

Good Luck.
