I'm looking for a 3.70 posi rear. Am using a 4sp 2.52 1st,1.88 2nd, 1.46 3rd ratio. Could any one tell me what factory options were used with this 4sp? Currently using a 3.07 rear. Thanks Pat

What gear ratios that are available depends on which model 67 Camaro you have. Could you give more details? The body by Fisher tag on the firewall has numbers that can be decoded if you're not sure what model you have.....Joe

Joe, I'm not sure what you mean by which model Camaro. It's a 327, 275hp. I'm trying to find out what combos were used in both 4sp trans types (Saginaw + Muncie) That ratio is a Muncie. I'm looking for the best rear ratio to use for quick pick up and cruising. Pat

Chances are the lowest gear ratio for the base model 4 brl 327 is 3:31 but I will check. If I'm not mistaking the only 4 spd in 67 was a Muncie. Using a wide ratio 4 spd will give you more off the line as it's 2.54 to 1 as opposed to 2.20 to 1 for the close ratio. I'll get back to you Pat......Joe

ok Pat
I went back & checked my books. The 327-4v engine was an option for the base Camaro. The base model was other than an SS or a Z/28. Rally sport was an option instead of a model in case yours is an R/S. In the power teams the 4spd was a wide ratio Muncie & gear ratios were 3.08:1 std, econ. w/o a/c was 2.73:1 & performance was 3.55:1 instead of what I mentioned before. Hope that helps......Joe

For quick pick-up you want something in the 3.7 to 4.1 area. For crusing at high speed the 2.7 or 3.08.
There were rarios (ring and pinion gears) offered in other Chevrolet models that will "fit" the Camaro rear end.
First you must know if you have a 10 bolt or 12 bolt differential.
The present 3.08 is a good happy medium for a light Camaro with 14" wheels and a 327 engine.

Joe, Thanks for the info. Actually, the Saginaw was used for all models except the Z28, unless the Muncie was specifically ordered. Pat
