I am replacing my drive shaft bushing after driving my 28 for fifty years and have a question about centering the driveline at the u-joint end. Mine is pushing hard to the passenger side and has worn throught that side and it makes my u-joint rub on its housing. thanks

Loosen all the spring "U" bolts. Pull the torque tube into alignment. Connect the "U" joint and then the torque tube. Now tighten the spring "U" bolts. With the front tires headed straight ahead measure each side from center axle to front hub. They should be fairly close. If they are not, you may have a bent torque tube.

Ray The problem on mine is that the drive shaft it's self is pushing on the bushing to the left. Are the three bearing lock sleeve screws adjustable to center the shaft and then readjust the ring gear to it?

To see what is happening, drop the torque tube down so you can see the drive shaft. Have someone rotate a wheel and watch the drive line. If the drive line goes in an oval the drive shaft is bent, if it stays stationary the torque tube, (which is common, is bent. When you have made your decision it will direct the next operation. The three adjusting screws have no relation to this problem.

Ray Thanks for the advice. I have three more torque.I was going to try that next but I was hoping it wasn't the tube. I need to get out my snow shovel and dig them out of three feet of snow. I will let you know what I find out. thanks Lewis

Ray I took the tube and drive shaft out and by measuring corner to corner it was bent over 1/8 of an inch. The drive line was also wore where the bushing was worn throught. Thanks for the good advice Ray. Lewis
