What is the correct paint color for 1932 Chevy Roadster fuel tank. Mine looks like gray but also has some traces of black.
Thanks
Jay

Hi Jay32;
I have a 32 Spt Cpe and the frame and everything bolted to it is black enamel.

Gloss black is REAL slick, however I did mine in semi gloss which I felt was more original looking, and easier to keep clean on a driver car.
No doubt, Paul's Roadster is drop dead gorgeous!

Neither is correct. Tinned steel is original. Most have been painted black in the years since assembly. That is for 1931 and I feel sure that 1932 is the same. I have not taken apart enough 1932s that I considered original to tell for sure.

As a point of interest, some of the 1929-32 filmstrips, where the gas tank is visible, show it to be black. The 1930-32 factory photos, again where the gas tank is visible, also show it to be black. My all original '32 still has black paint visible on portions of the gas tank.

Interesting enough, one factory photo of a 1930 shows the tail pipe and brackets also to be black.....and some of the 1929-32 filmstrips show the same thing as well. laugh laugh laugh laugh
