Who sells original type running boards?
Steel boards with attached rubber mats, as original?
All I can find from countless Google searches are smoothies for streetrods.
Thanks

There must be something close?
What do restored 37 Chevys have... glass streetrod boards with some Walmart rubber mats glued on?

Thats about it. The fiber glass ones at least have the ribs like originals. I happened to find a nice pair at a swap meet for a Master Deluxe mine is just a Master. The Deluxe has the chrome strips on the edge but they were rust free paid $250.00 which I thought was a bargain as they are very hard to find in good condition usally all rusted out and bent up. I found some rubber mat that had close to the same look as originals and made my own until maybe someday someone will use the original molds and make some repo's. HINT HINT pigs pigs

A friend of mine found a new old stock pair of running boards, in the original wrappers, for his 1938 on eBay. Price was $1,300 for the pair.

Concerning your running boards. I dont know where you can get repops for your running boards but I just found a web site in california that has reproduction running board matts. the web site is iandireproduction.com They charge 5.00 bucks for their catalog but will refund that if you order parts.

I & I has the dies for may Chevrolet models and years but to date has not produced a single one. If past performance is an indicator they never will! but sit on the dies until they are worthless.

Right! And, from what I understand, some of the molds that I&I has been sitting on for years are now to the point that it requires obsolete technology to make a run. If this is so then those molds are worthless. And, as many of us old timers know.....some of I&I's other products leave a lot to be desired as well.

Ok guys.. these are rod items..
but the boards are 16 GA steel and fit stock mounts…

I’m hoping I can get the mats from Chevs of the 40’s to attach to the smooth boards!

Superior Glass Works - www.superiorglassworks.com - makes fiberglass reproductions of the stock 37-38 running boards. No mat though. Might check with this guy in Canada for the mats. http://www.running-board-mats.com/

Jon Engle in Canada was taking deposits and not returning boards. A couple of us nearby had to work to return boards to their rightful owners after he took the deposits and ran...

I&I running board mats are 1938, NOT 1937. I offered to pay their die maker to make 37s, they refused. .
. All of the fiberglas parts I purchased from Superior Glass in Oregon did not fit. It was as if they were taken out of the mold and used in a tractor pull. They were pleasant to deal with but their parts still didn't fit. .
. Remember that Standard and Deluxe use different running board metal. Someone stole the running boards off my touring so I'm looking for a set too.
Good Luck, Lou

Lou

Do you have contact info for their die maker? A group of 37 enthusiasts are trying to find someone to make these, since I&I isn't.

Do you have pics of the difference between 37 and 38 mats?

Is this correct for 1937 [Linked Image from ]

For the mats only, the closest thing available is from Metro Rubber. Have heard the quality may not be up to our standards though and has no steel backing

I got a pair of mats for my 38 from Chevs of the 40s. They took a little massaging to make them fit but once on they look good. Also there's a pair of running boards on ebay that are ending soon for a 38. I don't know if they'll fit a 37 or not.

I used the metal backed mats from Chev's of the 40's on my '37. Needed to do some trimming of the rubber but they turned out nice.
