Solan,

Thank you very much for the story of Perline ....... simply great. It tells us this hobby of ours is MORE than a hobby ....it's a way of life and a wonderful life it is with our "four wheeled friends".

How does Erling fit into the puzzle here?

Thanks again,

Bob :vcca:

the 53 vette appears to be a kit car. the firewall picute, though not real explicit, make me believe it stated life in the '90's.mike

Yep it don't look like a real 53 Corvette, notice that the battery isn't even hooked up?

YES YES and YES! I've aways wanted one of those. I would rather have the original with the stove bolt 6 but I'd take it just as it is and not complain to Santa at all! Looks like a fun cruiser to me.

tje kit car 53 to 55 vettes show up at carlisle, pa for sale in the 15 to 30K range but his one, with the probable modern drivetrain, will probably fetch about 40 to 50K. A real 53, of which only 300 wre built by chevy, will bring 50 to 500K depending on its vin, condition and originality.the 53 and 54's aren't 1/10th the vettes the 56-57's are(IMHO). mike

Here's another one of "those." The seller is pretty straight forward about it being a "tribute" car.

Corvette

This one also looks pretty good to me....

on this kit car, notice how the vertical and horizontal aspects of the upper firewall merge in a smooth, rolling concavity. originals are more squared off at this transition point of the firewall.mike

V-8 and 12 volt system probably not a real 53. The 53 54 vettes were cars of their own and of their time. Good performer and since there was no V-8 in the chevrolet line at the time the little 235 did a real good job. talk

The puzzle is not difficult. Our 1916 490 is named Solan G. or Solan. Our 31 pick up is named Petrine C. When I write I use the nickname Solan or Solan_1916 (on eBay) and my wife uses Erling when she wants me to listen to all she wants me to do in the house in these Christmas times. It is my Christian name as well.

All clear? But these mentioned Corvettes are not genuine, I think. Anyway I still prefer my own Chevrolets.

Take it from me his wife is one sweet lady and not apt use his Christian name unnecessarily. Erling is also a fine gentleman. I have a few pictures to prove it.

I can imagine what you say is true. I was so impressed with the story of the '31'. It was truly neat.

My buddy just dropped a 350 in his 54 Vette. I liked it better when it had the six. The good news is that the six is now in my shop all cleaned up and on a display stand. I have to say I would not change out the 235 in my 60 El Camino if it were given to me....

Not to worry. They are using a cookie cutter and making 53/54 Vetties as fast as they can sell them. Just wonder if they are being titled as 53/54 or as an assembled car?

Hey Brownie,

That Corvette six would have looked great in your 51 (??) tin woody wagon. I still wish that car would have been just a little less. I'd have bought it in a heart beat. I'm still willing to admit I'd have bet the farm you wouldn't have gotten what you did for it. Oh well....

The engine in the woody was an all original 25,000 mile engine. It would take a sick man to change it out. I do love the 235 3 on the tree in my 60 El Camino.... The woody is down in sunny California. The owner emails me every now and then. It is sad when you do that much work then let them go... oh well, too many cars--not enough time.
