I'm installing stancions on my car with the pads under them should an extra washer be added to the two that go under them and when using the hex shoulder nuts is there something to take up the play between the shoulder and the inside of the stancion also would it be better to use chrome platted shoulder nuts or where they not platted originally.

Two types of bolts were used....a hex head and a oval slotted head. I used the oval slotted head on my car because it looks better. The bolts were plated.

On the extra washer, that is something that you have to figure out for yourself on a trial and error basis. If the stanchion fits better with the extra waster, use it....if it doesn't then don't use the washer. Each car is different and there are a lot of things on a 1929 and a 1930 that must be done on a trial and error basis to make things fit the way they should.

Yes I have slotted round head bolts made of stainless which can be polished. How about the hex shoulder nuts that fit into the top of the stancion and screw on to the headlight mount bolt mine are steel and not platted also they fit very loose into the stancion is there some way to make them tighter I tried o-rings but they did not slip into the stancion

The hex nuts that go on the top of the stanchions on my car were cad. plated. And, the stanchions are supposed to fit a little loose on the shoulder of the hex nut.

The after market headlight stanchions I got are sloppy loose at the round part of the hex bolt. The new hex bolts fit the original stanchions perfectly. I am going to try putting some heat shrink on the bolts. Hope that makes it an acceptable fit to the reproduction stanchions.
