1. I am looking for information on a good vendor for a wire harness.
2. I am looking for the proper grounding of the battery, is it to the frame or the transmission?
3. I am looking for the proper grounding of the gas tank sending unit.
4. I am inquiring about the proper fuel pump, I know it is an A/C but is it the one with the glass bowl?
5. My truck does not have a body tag on the firewall. Can anyone help with the proper numbers and paint codes so that a vendor called Back East can reproduce a Cowl Tag? I have the casting numbers for the engine, transmission and rear end.
Any help with the above questions would be greatly appreaciate.
Thanks, Roger

I will try to answer your questions, but I have a 36 so things MAY be slightly different, but I don't think so.
1. ynzyesterdaysparts.com is a good vendor of quality wiring harnesses. 2. Should ground to transmission. 3. The gas sending unit grounds to the tank and the tank grounds to the frame thru the tank straps. 4. The 36 has the glass bowl on the fuel pump. 5. Your title should have the numbers you need for the data plate.
If I am wrong I am sure someone will provide the correct answers, but I hope this helps. Richard

The correct fuel pump for your truck is an AC 421, and as stated in the other post, it has a glass bowl. My 1935 Standard series car had the battery grounded to the frame, but the transmission cover is a much better idea. I have a '35 1/2 ton for parts. It may have a firewall tag that would be useful as a sort of "template". That would be the embossed steel tag that faces forward on the firewall, not the aluminum VIN tag with punched number. As for your title showing the correct VIN for your truck, I find that many vehicles of this era are titled with the engine number instead of the VIN. Let me know if I can help.

Roger, I just returned from Wisconsin. My Son lives in Sun Prairie. I will try to get out to the farm and see what I have for you. It may take me a couple of days. Email me direct at ml.russell@mchsi.com if you don't hear from me in a few days.

34truck: I've been collecting parts for my 34 1/2 ton for about 10 years and have never found anyone who could tell me the difference between a 34 and a 35. Are they the same?

first up i run a seperate wire from the screw on the sending unit to the frame the tank has to be grounded with trying to rely on the parts of the tank it is best to run a good ground , just about every part of a 35 engine is differant . fuel pump water pump oiling system head on and on the interior is a differant color . my 34 looks to have never had a fire wall tag no holes not even when it was sand blasted could i find any evidence . this tag is not reproduced to my knolage and is differant from other 30 es tags . should not be to hard to find a good truck grill they are longer than the car grills so be careful . hope this helps

I have 34 1 1/2 ton trucks. Other than the motor difference there is a change in the roof. The windshield frame and roof have an extra wood spacer on the 1935. The brake shoes are wider in 35 than 34. You can tell the by the running board braces too. The 34's are an L shape and 35 & 36 have a jog in the corner for the brake rod. Hope this helps a little. We all miss 35trucker, the man with the answers.

The parts book shows that the cab roof panel and bows are the same for 1934, 1935, and early 1936 with high roof cab. The brske shoes (1/2 ton) are the same for 1934 and 1935 and also fit the 1934-35 Master cars. Running boards , aprons, and brackets same for 1935-36 different for 1934. Book shows the 1934-35 windshield frames the same. 1936 high roof fit only that model and another for the 1936 low roof. New for the 1935 1/2 ton trucks was the front spring shackle stops, ign. coil mounted on engine, different swing arm for windshield. The 1 1/2 ton had larger front brakes. (1934 was same as car).
