Does anyone have the paint code for the engine paint. I realize that it is available from some of the vendors, but I would like to have the company name and paint code so that I can get the modern equivalent and mix my own. dance dance

Thanks,
Jim V.

There is no "paint code" that I am aware of. You would have to locate new old stock engine parts and have the paint color matched to obtain the correct color. Besides, if you do have your own paint mixed, by the time you are done messing around getting the correct color matched and etc. you probably could have purchased a quart can cheaper from the Filling Station. They have the right color and it is high quality modern paint as well. Chev's of the 40's has the correct stuff too. You can purchase the correct paint by the quart or in spray cans. wink laugh laugh laugh

Jim:

It seems like this question has come up several times here in CC. The "answer" always boils down to what Skippy aka JYD said just above. You could spend some time doing a 'search' in here; but you'll find the same 'answers.'

One thing he didn't say (he's so PC, you know) is there is another vendor whose color seems to be a bit "off" the mark. (Now that's pretty PC also, isn't it??)

Understandable you'd like to mix your own; but the paint from The Filling Station - or - Chev's of the 40's is pretty reasonable. Anyway, stick with either of them on this paint color question and you'll be just fine. Just type either name in your 'google search thing' and you'll find 'em both!

I am aware of the paint that is available from the 2 vendors and the only reason I was asking was time related. I wanted to get the engine painted Tuesday. I have access to a paint supplier (PPG) that will mix me the paint at no cost. But, alas, timing was not good. I have purchased a quart from one of The Filling Station and had it shipped 3 day select, so I guess I will be painting the engine on Friday. Close enough.

Thanks for the info and comments.
