I need some help on the 5.3 L Vortec engine used in the Chevy trucks. I would like to get one from a wrecked truck between 2000 and 2008. Is any year better than the other. I plan to get the entire wrecked truck if I can so I will be sure to have everythig. I want the engine for a tired Jeep Wagon I want to keep. Does anyone know if the same engine was used in the Tahoe. The shop doing the install pointed me to the Vortec. I would guess the newer the better but I don't know. low mileage is the important part. Thanks for any help. I hope GM can survive this mess. I have six Chevys and one Cad. Gregg

Yes that 5300 engine is in a Tahoe, at least our 05 has one it is a great engine, this is our second the first one was in a 02 Tahoe and it went to 120K was great also.
