I spotted a nice '48 Compass on eBay tonight. The auction includes the box - paperwork and compass. Looks like an excellent one. Wonder what it will bring ? It sure would look great in my Sportmaster. Since the last one I saw sold for over 2K, I'll hold out for finding a bargain one some time. The item number is 320315917130....For anyone interested in bidding -- Best of luck

Good question ! It will be interesting to see the final price on ebay.

In So. Ca. at swap meets etc, a compass in "good-excellent" Cond. sells between $1,200-2,500.+

I'd like to have one for my car, but I can take a fly fishing vacation for amount of money!

Martini's Gentleman. Martini's. Especially after a day of fly fishing.

WOW !!! That had to be a record sell price for a GM Compass. I can not believe it $3624.00 +/- a few cents. From the starting price I know the seller was surprised.

Fishing trip hell, you can take an escorted European tour for that kind of money! That’s just another example of the dividing line between the upper crust and the average pawn. Probably went to some over paid executive who is running his stock holders business into bankruptcy while he lives high on the hog!

If those compasses are in so much demand then I’m really surprised that some off shore knock off’s aren’t showing up. And about that item, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 60year old item that was in that good of a condition, the box, chrome and all. I mean, a box and paper work with our as much as a smudge or frayed edge?? That absolute new, made yesterday appearance right there would make me wonder if it’s really genuine GM or if that vein of gold has been discovered half way round the globe!
There, just had to get that off my chest, now I can get on with getting the live stock fed and my “big old wife” sent off to the salt mine.

Agreed, Just alittle TOO PERFECT. Even the packing paper shows absolutly NO signs of age?

Look at it this way.... "we" know some of those high dollar muscle cars with rare power trains etc. at auctions and other places are counterfeit. Some are nearly impossible to detect. Seems reasonable to think some of the rare option stuff for sale on ebay, auctions, etc. could be fake also. I haven't seen this compass. I don't know the first thing about it. I am NOT suggesting this one is "fake." It's just my 2 cents that it seems like some rare items like this might be....
