Is this Serial Number Plate correct for a 1930 application? It looks like the one that is pictured in the Febuary 1930 "Chevrolet Service News" page 18. Thanks for looking. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4556653285&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

No, it is not correct. On the original serial number plate the "model" type was silk screened on the plate. For 1930 "Universal" would be silk screened onto the plate. The serial number plate featured on eBay has the "model" area blank which means that the model type has to be stamped onto the plate instead of silk screened as original. :( :( :(

In Australia we ran the same body plates as the US cars until 1929. The early 29 Holden body models ran the 28 US National plate and in mid 29 Holden manufactured their own which was brass and had the serial number stamped on it, I've even seen the odd one with 'AC' preceding the serial number. The serial plate on ebay looks like a reproduction and I've seen quite I few of these here in Aus, even though they were never used. I even have one in my collection. Chris
