A 1932 manifold system and and downdraft carburetor will bolt up to your 1929 engine. The electrolock for 1929 is a one year only application, therefore your electrical system is working as it should for 1929. Your car should cruise around 45 to 55 mph.

Hello DRHook, I don't know if you can handle all that power from such an advanced engine as a 31 with a down draft carb! WOW! Drive up here to the Terrill Car Museum in DeLeon if you get a chance. Just kidding about being able to handle all that H.P.
I hope all of you guys from Mineral Wells mark your calendar for the: LONE STAR REGION'S SWAP MEET June 9-10-11 & 12 * at Traders Village in Grand Prairie, TX, just North of I-20 on Mayfield (exit I-20 on 360 north)!
maybe we can visit and swap some Chevrolet parts! *I edited this after Oldchevyman's post below!

The 1932 carburetors were basically updraft design in a downdraft configuration. The 1933 wasn't a lot better. The 1934 had much improved performance, and the 1937 and newer had much improved reliability.
Since the 1932 is such a pricey unit, and litle better than the updraft; you might consider the later replacement 569s (replaces 1932-1936 carbs) or an aftermarket unit such as a Zenith or Stromberg. All of these are much improved over the 1932 carbs.

I have just started disassembling my 1932 carburetor to inspect and clean. Carbking's comment about the 1932 being pricey makes me wonder how pricey? Could I sell my 1932 and purchase a superior carburetor for little additional cost?
