hi

I have owned this 1927 capital aa now for a week or so and have another question regarding starting and ignition

I purchased a set of points condenser cap and rotor and replaced what came with car. But, when it came to condenser I did not find one on car. I looked in repair manual and no pics on location.

Does this car 1927 4cyl have or need a condenser? If so where to put?

Also It has autolite 3076 plugs and a friend advised try hotter plug so I will look for 3077. comments please.

Is anyone aware of a repair manual better than the one that you get from e bay?

Comments on choice of oil please.

thank you for your consideration

ken

YES your car needs a condenser, if the coil is an original configuration it has the condenser built in the coil. I have replaced the original coil on my 28 with a more modern coil (off a 51 Chevrolet) and attached the condenser body terminal to the coil mounting bracket for a ground and the terminal on the condenser to the lead going to the points. You need to be sure that the sparkplugs have the correct reach.

Mack got the other questions but only partially on the plugs. There are a bunch of us 4-banger gang that run Autolite 3077 plugs. Should see a little difference from the 3076s.

I didn't infer that the 3077 plugs were not correct because of reach, and that reach may be a more important factor than running a sparkplug just one heat range higher factor in the old four-bangers.

Using an "off brand" devil sparkplug can be like rolling the dice, or opening a box of chock-o-lates.........
