I am currently using boat wheel bearing grease in my waterpump grease cup(1928 engine). I am concerned about grease entering into the cooling system and settling to the bottom of the radiator and eventually plugging the radiator. Is there a better grease to use, or can the waterpump be rebuilt to use a sealed bearing?

Thanks,
James.

You should be using regular water pump grease. You can purchase it here: http://www.lubriplate.com/

The grease will settle as you say, slowly but inevitable. So you must keep an eye on this and clean the bottom tank to avoid plugging/boiling before it could damage the engine.

Use grease ment for the water pump.

The proper water pump grease that should be used,is a calcium based type. It's a very thick, tan brown colour, and is partially soluble in water. But as Solan mentioned, after a period of time,
it will buld up inside the water passages in the head, block & radiator core, and this type of grease can be easily flushed out.
