My rumble seat lid handle has a lock with cover. the ignition key will not work in it but does work for the pass door, is it possible to rekey this lock? anyone had a lock guy do this? I have been spraying it full of lube stuff for a couple days to see if it would free up if thats the problem, nothing so far, it does not need to lock it is in the unlock position now but would be nice if it did work correctly. ps the latch has been made to stay open also so that needs to be replaced or resprung

As the dog wrote your cylinder can be recoded however, I would not trust just any locksmith. Most of them have never worked on a lock like that and don't know how to take them apart correctly. I have finally trained one locally and he now knows how not to mess them up. They need to understand that the handle is old crumbly die-cast and can be broken. They also need to know that the cylinder is held in by a pin and it only comes out one way. Good luck.

I just recieved my lock handle back from the local lock guy, works perfect, he impressioned the cylinder and made a key, perfect fit, he thought this may have been changed the key looks nothing like the ignition key and he said it was not a pin style but a slide bar type and did not think they were made then, so whatever its perfect and it was 36.00! yay yay

All the '31-32 locks are wafer and not pin type. Most modern locks are pin so locksmiths expect them to be pin type. That is one reason to use people who understand what they are dealing with.
