I want to confirm the correct carburetor for a 1937 Master (GB) coupe.

Based on my interpretation of the parts catalog I think it should be a Carter W-1. The one on the car is a Carter YF.

Thanks,
Rusty

The Carter YF is a aftermarket replacement carb. A W-1 is the original.

The correct W-1 used in 1937 was a one year version only.

Gentleman,

Thanks for the confirmation and additional information. Based on information I have not only was the 346-S used only one year but it was superseded by a 420-S for service.

I just bought was is supposed to be an original 1937 W-1. We'll see what I really get.

The 420S is the standard W-1 for the years, 1939-1940 ,and the
replacement for 37 as you have said,

The correct W-1 for a 1937 has a two piece choke valve and the off-set type lever where the accellerator rod connects. I do have a 1938 W-1 if required. It did have some minor improvements and looks like a 1937 when mounted on the engine.
