Could someone tell how get the top of the gas gauge off. I'm not sure if this was pressed on or screwed on. I know that this is a mechanical gauge that operates with a cork float. I want to clean up the fuel level indicator and glass before the final paint goes on. Thanks in advance to those that have the answer.

Hi, The top unit screws off. When you finish cleaning up be sure to put some "never-seize" on the threads for the next removal.
