The transmission finally decided to part ways with the engine today. The splins on the input shaft on the transmission are just about shot!! I think that is why I had trouble getting the tranny off. I will take a picture and put on here for you all to take a look at. Does anyone have a good one they want to sell? :) I didn't have a chance to put the pressure plate or clutch off yet. I did give everything I have off a coat of primer though.

Well, I just made it cost alittle more money! I was working on getting the pressure plate and clutch off and broke a piece out where the carbon throw out goes... not good. Any ideas... buy a new pressure plate!

I took some pictures today to let you take a look at everything. Has anyone ever seen a radiator cap like this one?

Here is my Grandpa! He is 92 and still sharp as a knife. He helps me everyday that I work on the car. When I am doing busy work, he makes rolling pins on his lathe. He just finished this one it is made of a piece of chestnut from his mothers 100+ year old piano.

Hi,

For sure you are in the market for an input shaft for the 1928 transmission. If you don't find a solution soon, send me a PM.

The radiator cap is an aftermarket unit. They came in different assemblies and were generic. The temperature unit has a bowtie; however it was made by Motor meter and not Chevrolet. Yours has a latch that opens the unit and you do not have to unscrew the cap.

Give us a picture of the part you broke on the clutch and one of us will have it.

The piece you broke is available as a reproduction from the Filling Station and likely also Gary Wallace.

The Filling Station part number is AF-63, called Passenger & Truck throwout collar sleeve - replaces # 346809.

Yesterday I took the input shaft to a spray welding shop and they are going to to weld it up and cut new splins for me. It should be done on monday.
