HI, I AM INSTALLING A NOS GM T/S PART#986514 ON A 51 FLEETLINE AND PER THE INST.ALL SEEMS TO BE OKAY EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING ISSUES...THE PILOT OR INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME? AND WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED BOTH SIDES BLINK WHEN EITHER IN THE LEFT OR RIGHT MODE? I KNOW I HAVE SOMETHING WIRED WRONG, BUT CAN'T FIND OUT WHAT? THE INS. ARE NOT THAT GREAT. ANY IDEAS?

The installation instuctions start on 74 (same link except replace the 78 with 74). I have the Guide Service Bulletin that shows what the switch contacts connect to and can email you the page. Let me know by PM.

The continuous pilot lamp could indicate a bad flasher or wires not hooked up correctly. The pilot lamp should connect to the flasher lug marked P, the power from the ignition switch to the + lug, and the turn signal switch unit to the L lug.

It took me a long time to get mine working right because some @#$% connected the right brake light wiring to the stop lamp switch as well as to the turn signal operating unit (switch assy.)
