my truck has a 350 in it. the timing marks line up perfect and it idles perfect and when it is still you can rev it up and it runs great. BUT, when you drive down the road it lacks power for a while and back fires a little. but as you go along it eventually runs normal. What is the problem?

Is it the stock 350? Rochester quadrajet? Turbohydromatic 350? I would make sure my choke was working, heat riser from exhaust manidfold was intact and my thermostat was functioning properly...
