I have been investigating what the prefix V looked like on the door post vin plate on trucks which came with a V-8 engine. I have seen V's which look like the other vin numbers which are nice and neat and also V's which appear to be hand stamped later perhaps when the engine was installed at the factory, therefore not lining up with the other numbers. My question is: Was the V hand stamped in after the vin was stamped and also what did the V look like? Again, I have seen different varients of this, some have a roman type tab on the top and some don't.
any help is appreciated
