I need some help to complete my restoration of this car. I'm looking for somebody with a 49-50 convertible to scoot under their car and take a picture of the parking brake lever. If anybody has one off their vehicle, could I borrow one to make mine? It's the pivioting part just in front of the "X" part of the frame. Looks like a flat piece of metal with a couple bends and possibly a cut or two? The one I have has been replaced with a homemade one. This is really holding me up. It goes here under the torque tube ball into the two unpainted pieces of metal. Really, really nedd some help.

Hi Bruce,

I've got a '50 Styleline Deluxe 4dr, would that help?

Thanks Don but no, it has to be from a convertible. Because of the special convertible frame it's a unique piece.

Bruce,

The soonest I can get you a picture is Sunday.

According to the 1929 - 1954 parts book, group 4.792 LEVER, Parking Brake Cross Shaft and Idler for all 1949 - 1954 passenger cars is 689531 parking, idler (14 25/32 OL). It should be readily available from a salvage yard with any of those cars in it. A drawing of it is in Fig. 4 of Section 5 of the 1949 - 1954 service manual.

Hey Jim, I still think it's different because of the frame. I remember seeing something somewhere stating it was different. I'll do some digging again.

There are two parts that are convertible only...that I can find. They are the group 4797, 3688195 bracket and the 4625 , 3688867 arm. This is from the 1952 parts book.

Thanks Gene, It appears the idlers are the same part number. I can't remember but I think we tried to use one off a 1949 parts car and it wasn't even close. I'll have to revisit this and see if it matches the pictures which were posted.
