This came up on ebay and they even show the before and after shots. One more piece of history gone. Well mine will not be leaving the family. Both my daughters show interest in cars that are original. It's going to my youngest and her future husband. He is helping in the restoration. Please show your sons or daughters that history is to be preserved for the future generations to see. Save an old car don't crush or rod them. Go to this site to see what happens.

And......the sad thing is that they can probably sell the car for thousands of dollars more than they could when it was stock. :( :( :(

That is a shame to see the after pictures of that car. They messed up a beautiful car just so they could do the speed limit on the freeway and impress their buddies. they ought to make that a crime

Don't lose all hope. I've gotten my Dad's old car, a 32 deluxe sedan, which hadn't moved let alone started in 37 years (I'm 37 myself), going again. I can't imagine not trying to get a car up to its original condition before turning it into a 'rod' as a last resort.

My 14 year old daughter is really into it and she gets quite upset at the idea of chopping older cars, so she's already staked her claim in my mind.

im 17 and it took me five long years of mowing lawns, doing oddjobs, working for my fathers trucking company, and saving every penny before i found the perfect chevy. i was going to a swapmeet here in sacramento where i first saw it. a beautifully original 29 coupe with a complete motor complete dash, pretty much complete everything. i fell n love and bought it on the spot for $6500. whilst towing it home i had a guy come up to me in the restaurant parking lot and offered to trade me a 72 camaro on the spot for my old chevy. so i asked him what his plans for the car would be. he replied "make it a hot rod, chop it of course, add some louvers here and there and a fully bumpin sound system" i just said no thanks and walked away. my uncles, like myself, believe in keeping cars in their original condition. i dont even like it when people do this to vw's, it just ruins the car. though i guess it makes those that are left all the more valuable

I bought my '31 Coach about two years ago and started restoring it. When I was just about ready to have her painted, I learned all about wood rot!

Well, the body is just about disassembled, and will come completely off the frame in about two weeks. After that I will be replacing all the wood in the car, and putting her back together.

When all is said and done, I will have more money in the car than I could ever sell it for, but like the enthusiatic 17 year old above, I did not get into this hobby to make money; I did it to have fun and preserve a piece of automotive history.

This is my first pre-war, vintage car resto, and I promise you, she will be returned to her original condition!

All the best, Don

That almost made me cry! I worked very hard to bring a 33 basket case back to original and it still isn't as nice as that one was before they butchered it.

That is a shame. My 32 roadster is a basket case. Wish I had a car like that to start with.

The point is, can a person build a '32 chevy street rod from reproduction parts. Are there not fiberglass fenders and new reproduction bodies available? Build a square tube frame add whatever powerplant and driveline, upholster and go. If you sold the original car- would it not have yeilded enough cash to buy all the parts you needed for the rod? Would it not be easier to do that or am I wrong as usual.

i have never owned a street rod but yet i am a member of the MSRA(minnesota street rod)Last year my original 37 chev was there. Year before that my 55 chev 3/4 ton was there. And this year i will have my 31 there. My car gets just as many eyeballs looking at it as the street rods do. I should come up with a slogan to put in the window so that everybody knows it will never be a street rod. devil

I have an idea: Anyone who butchers a perfectly good car like that gets life in prison! Do any of you guys ever watch American Hotrod on the Discovery Channel on Friday nights? My best suggestion is not to! What a bunch of heartless losers. If there is a Humane Society for animals, why not one for original cars?

...Well, I guess one man's passion is another man's pain! or visa versa.... Actually if you are a fan of street rods it is quite nice, and only $39,500! I would not like that color, a nice Teal or Chocolate brown with beige highlights and orange trim would be nice! Ha!
