Is it true that if a pick up had a v-8 in it, the factory would stamp a V at the beginning of the id number on the tag, which was spot welded to the driver's door post?

Its was true for the 1955 and up cars. From the Info. I have it was true for trucks in 1957. Still looking for the 1955 Info.

Just found it. The 1955 2nd series truck would have a V in the beginning of the serial number if equipped with a V8 engine.

There you go Gene. That settles it, I am going to sell V-8 and install a 55 235 which I have had. Thanks for your info again. By the way I took out the 265 last year and had it rebuilt so someone is going to get a great engine.
