With the stock factory ring and pinion, and with your engine up to snuff, your car should be able to go at least 55 miles per hour. A lot of guys run their cars around 45 to 55 miles per hour. If you have the 3.50 ring and pinion in your car from Larry Jackson, then 60 to 65 miles per hour would be normal.

Check your timing. If your engine is running retarded power and maximum speed will be diminished laugh laugh laugh

12 degrees is the factory setting. However, if you want to improve performance and power, install AC-C87 spark plugs and gap them at .040". Bump your timing to 18 degrees (that's when the 12 degree timing mark is just about ready to disappear out of the top of the timing hole (advanced side), and you will notice a big difference in the way the car performs. laugh laugh laugh

Here is a link that will provide you some information also. It has a lot of good and interesting information with it. It is all about 1931 but some info can relate to the 1930. chevy http://1931chevrolet.com/troubleshooting.htm#why

Yep! We talked about this many times in the past on Chevy Chatter regarding the AC-C86 plugs, which are now discontinued. Also, the information on Billy Boy's 1931 web site covers the AC C-86 plugs and the increased timing as well. laugh laugh laugh
