I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT ALL IS INVOLVED WITH A 6 TO 12 VOLT CONVERSION. WHAT ALL HAS TO BE DONE.

What benefit(s) do you want from changing to 12 volt? About the only benefit I can think of that requires 12 volt is adding air conditioning. That in itself requires major changes to the vehicle.
12 volt conversions at the minimum require: 1) changing the generator to a 12 volt alternator 2) changing the battery to a 12 volt 3) replacing all the light bulbs to 12 volt 4) adding dropping resistors or converters for the electrically run accessories (dash instruments, radio, etc.)
Most of us on this site would recommend against the conversion to 12 volt. The reasons are: 1) removes original type equipment from the vehicle (we like to keep them as close to original as we can) 2) Your conversion may introduce new problems you did not have before (no good deed goes un-punished, etc.)

chevy50jim has just about covered the required information. Don't know where you are headed, but give it a great deal of thought before you start. The item not mentioned by chevy50jim is the requirement to do something about the starter. Think twice, cut once.

A previous owner converted my '37 to 12v. Why, I do not know. There is nothing he added that required 12v.
A voltage reducer will be needed at least for the fuel guage.
Eventually I will change it back to 6v, just because I want this truck to be as near original as I can take it.

Ray and the others have covered the points well.
My 41 had a 12 volt "Step-up converter" {not sure of the name} wired under the dash so a 12 V. Radio/CD player or ? could be played.
The converter is/was not very big, maybe 5 inches long and looks like a Cigarette Lighter. The CD radio/player had an adapter that plugged into the converter.
I removed the one in my car, but I see these for sale various places.
Enjoy the ride, Michael41
