Hi All,
Does anyone know if you can tell, just from the casting number on a third member, if it came out of a truck, or a passenger car? In looking at the internet sites, I can't find an answer to my question. Is there a different number sequence for one or the other?
Thanks for any feedback....
Bob

I found it after looking back through four part number changes. If it has that number it originally was from a 1955-56 passenger car//Corvette. The newer replacement number covered back from 1964 to 1955.

Chevgene,
Thanks very much for the info...this is why I am confused..I bought it as a passenger car 3rd member, and when I went to have a new ring and pinion on it, the shop said that it was a truck rear end, not a passenger car. I trust the guy I bought it from and was glad to hear your opinion...any more info. on the part changes...was that just the evolution of them...?
Thanks again, Chevgene!

The demensions were the same but they were made stronger as the later, larger, more pwoerful engines came along.
