Hi, More paint questions for my 29 sport coupe. I am the guy who asked if all black was a choice. My car based on what I said before was a dark green and black. I believe this to be original, but this doesn't jive with the color choices for my car according to the paint charts. Were there different levels of sport coupes that would have offered different combinations? Thanks.

Why don't you contact the "Filling Station" and purchase the complete "Chevrolet" Duco Specifications from them. This should answer all of your questions. Part Number 356100 for listing of color combinations 1929-1934.

Were there different levels of sport coupes that would have offered different combinations? This question was also asked and answered previously. Yes, different color combinations were used on the 1929 Sport Coupe. The color combinations were 13, 19, and 23. :)

Which leads me to my question; if green was not a choice, why would it be there? I am sure the car is original and numbers match. Where these cars ordered with other choices of colors by the dealers, by people who did not want or like the offered combinations from the factory? I know a guy near Ft Smith who bought the same model of car on the internet. The car came from California and had the color comination as mine..A mystery..

Color Combination No. 19 (sport coupe) The color - Pioneer Green is listed, so I don't see that there is a mystery. Again, buy the Duco Specifications sheet that is available from the Filling Station. A wonderful source of information.

I found my paint codes. Number nineteen mentions pioneer green, but russian brown as well. The terms are a bit confusing, as to what get what color. I figures the fenders were plack and the rest green, but I am sure this is not the case. Thanks.

I suggest that you invest in a free catalog from the filling station, or just buy one, next time you order parts they should happily send you one. There are drawings available for purchase to determine what color's go where. Page 383, November 2007, catalog.

Color combination number 19 is not the correct paint combination Tu papa was inquiring about. The drawings that the Filling Station sells are for the pinstriping locations only. :)

One of the combinations was all black with Apple Green body moldings, actually sounds like a good color scheme. I have a '29 Standard Coupe and have found the original colors under the current brushed on paint job. It is a real pretty deep green/blue with a lighter green on the wheels and window moldings. It probably had golden yellow pin stripes on the body moldings. As far as I have been able to determine this is paint combination #1 since they did not seem to start numbering them until the middle of 1929. I looked it up in the service bulletins but the paint name descriptions are kind of confusing. Steve at the Filling Station has a listing of the thirty or so paint combinations available in '29 if you purchase the service bulletins. It was a million car sales year so they probably had to keep coming up with different combinations to insure that everyone wouldn't have the same looking rig. We have taken it on some tours but it still needs work just like all the rest. Some year I will strip it down for a restoral but not until we get some of the other projects finished first. Good luck with your research.
