I pulled the tail lite metal unit off, while the lense glass is whole, there is a large "square hole" on the rounded bottom side of the unit, small hole on each side. Is there another glass piece that goes on here? I don't see anything regarding this open hole in the catalogs I have .

Yes ,there is a clear glas lens to light up the lisence plate.

Also, the correct tail light lens is not glass....the lense is actually made of celluloid and it is ruby red in color with a Chevrolet bow tie in the center.  :) :grin:
