I am almost to the point of working on the interior trim, but was wondering what was used for trim panels in the Chevrolet Truck? Was the doors, back and sides covered or just the doors? Doe anyone know of a source for the material? Best Regards,

The truck interior panels were an upholstery grade cardboard. Generally black in color with a grain pattern pressed in. Beginning in 1933 a metal door panel was used. Later Green and brown/tan cardboard panels were used in cabs.

I may mention that in the trucks and pick ups assembled in Denmark (from 1924) and Sweden (from 1928) they used plywood nailed to the wooden door frames and then varnished. The inner walls and the ceiling were covered as Chipper described. The bodymakers in Norway used same materials.
Quite some truck owners here could not afford the covering inside. They drove without it, using the wood for notices about how many loads they had made already, and to get their payments.

Thanks, since it is a 1928, I'll go with the black trim panels, however the wood does sound appealing. Does anyone know where I can buy the black upholstery cardboard?

Check the yellow pages for Auto Upholstery nearby. They should all carry the board.

Ray, Thank you very much. I'll check on it tomorrow. This is a very exciting time, as the truck is nearing completion after 2 long years! Paul

Howdy! Wish you could see my LO, It has all the original panels in good shape. The doors have the black moulded cardboard as do small panels on the sides behind the door to form "pockets". there are other peices of trim that go above the windshield and side windows. The back of the cab above the seat has nothing. The metal and wood was painted silver up to the roof section where it sits. the roof secion was left plain unpainted wood. My Dads LP is the same way. Hampton Coach does have all the panels but the grain isn't exact. Got 3 of the 4 pistons loose on mine but the last one is being stubborn. Give me a call if you still have my number. Maybe I can take pics of it and send them. 812-383-4234

Hi Bob! Thanks for the advice. I would like to see pictures of yours, as they always help see the fine details. I am trying to stay as original as possible. I'll give you a call sometime soon and catch up. All the best, Paul
